First major announcement from me for 2020 – super excited to take on the role as Editor for RUN Singapore magazine!
I was just on their cover for the Oct/Nov 2019 issue and I’ve been contributing articles to them on a freelance basis for years, and I am very grateful for this opportunity.
I still remember my first ever article I wrote for a motoring magazine, back in 2007. I was still in university then, majoring in business, and I never thought of becoming a journalist. I mean, come on, I failed General Paper in junior college and the only thing I liked writing in was my diary lol.
But I gave it a shot anyway and I loved it. I love chasing a story, interviewing people, crafting the angle and telling their stories to the world. Then I picked up photography so I could better tell their stories.
Slowly, I started writing for more magazines, newspapers, websites locally and internationally, and I even had my own motorsports column in The New Paper and My Paper. From motoring and motorsports, I transitioned to writing about fitness and sports.
Of all the different types of work I do, you can say writing is my first love. After 3 years in 2 corporate jobs, I decided to step out on my own and never looked back.
It’s interesting where life takes you to huh! (P.S. This is an additional role; I will still be continuing all other projects, ie. content creation, digital marketing, event planning, coaching etc)
This is the official press release:
SINGAPORE, 14 January 2020 – RUN Singapore, Singapore’s only running magazine published by Bold Ink Magazines, has appointed Cheryl Tay as Editor.
