It breaks my heart to say this, but Queen Bitch I (the first) has to go into early retirement due to some unfortunate circumstances. (inserts many broken heart emoticons)
You know how much Queen Bitch I means to me – I got her sprayed in glitter pink (you can only see the glitter upclose) and I honestly treated her more than just a bike, more than just a non-living object. This may sound strange but she was like a person to me (ok don’t laugh).
So what happened?
After returning from the Ironman 70.3 Bintan race, I noticed a loud clicking sound coming from the bike wtf and it wasn’t like any of the other sounds I’ve encountered before. I get uncomfortable when I hear such sounds so I will send my bike to the shop as soon as I can.
And then I received the bad news when I was overseas – Queen Bitch I is deemed unsafe for riding due to some issues with the frame and it cannot be repaired, thus I had to get a new one. But because my frame is sprayed, the warranty is voided. :(((
Sucks, but let’s look on the bright side – I’m lucky that nothing happened to me while I was riding, eg. frame cracking mid-ride. I suspect something happened on the ferry when it was being transported back; I mean, my Rimowa luggage got a huge dent the size of my head too! (Btw, our bikes are transported as is and not in bike cases for Bintan.)
So I won’t be spraying Queen Bitch II… yet… but thankfully, I can bring over all the other parts from Queen Bitch I, so I still have parts of her with me. I just wanted to give a shoutout to the team at the Specialized store at Vertex for helping me with everything – from checking the bike to fixing up the new bike quickly so I can get back on the road in aero. (Yup, I chose to stick with Specialized.)
Let’s welcome Queen Bitch II – show her the same amount of love ok!
