There is always some kind of weight loss challenge going on and one of the latest in town is called Fit To Win (FTW), a social weight loss challenge with a betting element. No you don’t gamble on who will lose the most weight, but rather, you place a bet on yourself.

Similar to DietBet, participants pay a registration fee of S$20 and go for a compulsory weigh-in between 12 and 19 January 2014. These fees will all be pooled into a money pot and after eight weeks, those who successfully lost five percent or more of their starting weight will get to split the money pot. The final weigh-in will be held on 16 March at Fort Canning Green with a mass workout.

There is only space for 400 participants, so the pot will be worth S$8,000 at max. Still, if only two people manage to lose five percent of their weight, that mean S$4,000 each. The top three ‘losers’ will also stand to win gym memberships worth up to S$3,000.

You are free to go about your own workout routines to lose weight, but FTW also has various fitness activities that you can attend. You can view the schedule of classes here – there is kickboxing, yoga, pilates, strength training, Muay Thai, Zumba and more.

The brain behind FTW is a team of four Communications students from Nanyang Technological University. These four ladies are hoping for this to “serve as a kickstart for sedentary Singaporeans who want to change their lifestyles but could never find enough motivation to do so”.

Registration has already started online and spaces are limited so sign up quickly!
