It was just another yacht day that I had planned with my Bikini Empire girlfriends, so I had zero clue that anything was going to happen that day, other than us drinking and playing games and hanging out under the sun. The party size restrictions were at its most lenient through the pandemic period, where we were allowed to go out in groups of eight.

The day went by quickly, we were buzzed and we were walking back to the marina building to go home. I was walking behind with Grace, holding hands, and all my friends were in front but I didn’t think anything was amiss.

Suddenly, she pulled me to a stop and I was like oh, did she forget something? Then she started muttering something, but because we had our masks on, I couldn’t quite hear what she was saying. I remember something about Heaven and Earth, and then she took out a ring box.

I gasped as I covered my mouth and started to slowly understand what was going on. My friends were already cheering and screaming, with their phone cameras on us. I stepped out of frame quickly to put down the many bags I was carrying and when I stepped back in, G went down on one knee and asked, “Tay Pei Shi Cheryl, will you marry me?”

OF COURSE, OF COURSE I WILL. YES YES YES! I started crying as she stood up to kiss me, before putting the ring on my finger. She had made couple rings so I put hers on for her too.

And just like that, after six weeks of being together, I became a fiancée.

Some people asked if it’s too soon and why G proposed so early. You’ll have to ask her yourself, but I think she said it felt right, it felt safe, so why wait? #chopefirst
